Eco Couture

Hi, I'm seeking like minds.

I grew up designing and making my own clothes since a little girl, and apprenticed with Mirage in Melbourne, Australia’s largest CMT house for major Oz designers; before studying fine art at Heatherleys in London. I was also sponsored by Mirage and a runner-up in the Australian Fashion Awards. Then I traveled and lived in a few different countries and got into planet activism and events, then running an online arts community, then helping manage festivals. Now current fashion has caught up with the designs in my head and the ideals in my heart and I recently returned to designing eco-friendly wearable art.

The stuff I’m now designing and reconstructing are Eco Couture, individual one-off’s made from recycled and vintage fabrics. My design skills are coming back and improving with each collection batch. Sketches and photos of recent experiments are up at http://www.recycledfordancing.com plus I already have clothes in 2 boutiques, addresses are on the site under Retail Stores.

I also do custom stage gear; before working on festivals full time I actually did costumes for Music TV dancers, musicians, and theatre. I had a few designs on national TV way back when, on long running music TV show called Countdown. And I designed costumes for a whole Bertolt Brecht play at the Chelsea Playhouse in London, plus whole wardrobes for nightclub dancers and contemporary cabaret, and fire dancers for festivals in Byron Bay.

My current designs are inspired by San Francisco and Japanese street fashion, as well as European Couture and Burning Man. For me it is sculpture using textiles with a wearable framework and chaos, I take something that I see and mix it with something else that I see, each piece inspiring the next piece. Anyway take a peek at http://www.recycledfordancing.com for art’s sake, and keep me in mind when you are thinking of new additions to your wardrobe or recycling your wardrobe.

Thank you for being here.

WANTED: Rainbow Press Crew SALARY: Good Karma

Going to the Gathering?
NOT going to the Gathering?
Want to plug-in in a vital way?
Be a part of the Rainbow Press Crew!

Rainbow needs a Press Crew to balance the information handed out to the media by the Law Enforcement Officers ("leos"), to tell our side of the story.

What can you do? Be a small part of our big crew!

Here's how it's going to work:

1. Assorted folks "on the land" will write up a daily summary of the day's events, legal issues, fun stuff, etc.

2. That summary is dropped of at a specific vehicle where someone will type it out, and print out 7 paper copies.

3. Meanwhile, Info will help direct volunteers to head out to the Parking Lot after dinner, stop by the vehicle, and pick up the paper copies.

4. Those seven copies will be brought to the road and divvied into 7 different cars already leaving the Gathering with instructions to call a number as soon as possible and read the summary into a voice mail box. Hopefully, at least 3 copies will be called in, in a timely fashion each day!

5. A person (not attending the Gathering) at the voice mailbox will transcribe the summary into a concise press release and email it out to 100 media outlets.

6. 20 different folks (also not attending the Gathering) will follow-up by calling 5 media outlets each. This is the professional way to send out press releases; the press expects this and it is a sure way to be taken seriously. The callers will ask if they can answer any questions (making it clear that they can't speak for Rainbow) and stress that the most accurate story is at the Gathering. This will take about a half hour a day.

7. Directions to the site will be included in every release. When the press arrives, they'll be directed to a Media Check-In Area and check in. Tours will be available to escort them thru the camp at 12 pm daily.

Voila! Fair and Balanced Media!

So far, thanks to the help of many, videos, quotes and info has been collected for the press, a list of well over 100 media outlets and press emails from regional, national and international areas has been built, both mainstream and alternative, a phone line has been set up, a printer and printer drivers are at the Gathering, reports have been leaving the Gathering and two press releases have already gone out!

We also have 12 kind and loving brothers and sisters lined up to do different jobs in this chain, but still have quite a few spaces to fill. Three of the 12 are off-site "press release follow-up phone callers." The remainder of volunteers will be attending the Gathering. Many of the jobs will be done by more than one person to prevent burnout. PLEASE consider helping out with this awesome project!

What job openings are still available?

* 17 folks not attending the Gathering to be off-site press release follow-up phone callers, to total 20; now that's a crew! To get yesterday's news out today, callers need to make the calls early to meet the press's news-acceptance deadline of 1pm. That's 12pm PT, 1pm MT, 2pm CT and 3pm ET.
* Detail oriented, accurate summary writers on the land with legible handwriting and decent grammar
* Typists and Printer-outers of 7 copies a day
* Assorted people to take turns finding responsible drivers/callers on the road heading out
* Printer vehicle security
* Diligent yet entertaining Rainbow Tour Guides with RADIOS to STAY WITH the MEDIA throughout their visit in case they (the media) need to be dispatched to an incident. Periodic and loud announcements of camera presence is needed so folks are always aware. And give 'em a great tour!
Rainbow Press Crew FAQs:

**********************************
Why do we need a Rainbow Press Crew?

It's hoped that peaceful, safe Rainbow Gatherings will exist again. However, two gatherers were tasered at the '07 Arkansas Annual Gathering. Two months after that Gathering, the Forest Service (FS) purchased 700 tasers.

http://news.moneycentral.msn.com/provider/providerarticle.aspx?feed=AP&Date=20070919&ID=7496520

They've informed the Family that their leos are trained to use these "less-lethal" weapons http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/15/nyregion/15taser.html and will be outfitted with them at this year's Gathering. FS guideline documents have even been updated to include the protocol for taser use.

http://www.fs.fed.us/im/directives/fsm/5300/5380.doc
http://www.fs.fed.us/im/directives/fsh/5309.11/5309.11_50.doc

This year's Annual Gathering is being held in Wyoming; the #1 least populated state in America, where accountability will be most unlikely. If a tree falls in the woods and no one saw it fall, did it ever even fall?

If, God forbid, an incident does happen, we need the press to see it. But a main reason for getting mainstream press, namely cameras, into the Gathering, is to keep the leos on their best behavior and deter them from committing any more acts of violence against us folks whose purpose in gathering is to pray for peace.

************************************

Won't our own cameras be enough?

No. It would be great if that were true. The more civilian cameras coming out only to capture Law Enforcement Officer ("leo") violence the better. By all means; should an incident occur, please put calls out on Rainbow radios for all cameras to head to the incident. This way even Rainbow Tour Guides hear the call and can bring mainstream cameras to the scene immediately.

But know the risks if you decide to approach a violent leo attack and get it on film. Your camera can be taken right from your hands, without sufficient warning, and you can be arrested.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_1PH7KakcY&NR=1

Then you and your footage are in custody. Often leos will keep cameras, footage, bicycles, etc. for months after your release, as was the case in the Ocala inident. And/or you could be injured, or worse.

We've placed several calls and emails to Wyoming authorities to confirm how far a civilian must be from an leo and still be allowed to film. So far we've received no response. We'll keep trying. This may be a good time to remind everyone to always film the filmers.
Instances in which police attempt to snatch TV news cameras are rare. When civilian cameras capture valuable footage, even if it makes it onto Indymedia or YouTube, it's considered "amateur" footage and rarely results in any accountability.

Sometimes in Rainbow, if the footage is found, it doesn't get used. At the '05 West Virginia Annual Gathering, a gatherer videotaped an leo sneaking up on and macing a dog who was tied to a van. The leo was never found liable.

*******************************

What could be the long-term effects of this increase in harassment?

Police harassment has been known to completely squelch events. For example, the monthly New York City Critical Mass Bike Ride is currently down in numbers from thousands to dozens. The evident increase in leo harassment towards Rainbow is succeeding in decreasing our numbers as well. Each of us Rainbow gatherers know of really peaceful folks who've gradually stopped attending because of the rise in law enforcement, and the agro vibe that often comes with it.

Even High Times Magazine's Steve Hager agreed back in 2001, when he wrote in the July issue in reference to the government's intensified campaign against the Rainbows, "If the spirit of Woodstock is going to be passed down to a new generation, the Rainbow Family must find a way to protect and defend itself."

The FS has really stepped it up since then; especially by outfitting themselves with these deadly weapons to police a peaceful event that has policed itself successfully for over 35 years.

It is essential for the future numbers of our Family that measures be put into place, now, to provide for a safe, comfortable and truly peaceful Gathering. It's hoped that these measures will be carried forth and implemented at every Gathering so that soon our old friends will feel comfortable returning Home.

****************************************

I don't want to put myself out there.

Everything being done and requested is legal. Taking a pro-active stance towards protecting our brothers and sisters may be frowned upon by some in babylon. And yes, even though what we're doing is entirely within the scope of the law, it may be frowned upon possibly to the point in which our actions may be watched. But really, who cares what they think? You're going to let their thoughts control your actions, to the point of inaction? As far as being in the 'scope' of some monitoring system, "If you don't have a file on you, you're not doing something right!" -Stevie S.

Maybe i'll plug in to Rainbow Press Crew a bit, if I see it work. A machine must have cogs for it to work. So there's that leap of faith thing again. And, "be the change you wish to see in the world." -Gandhi.

*******************************

How often will press releases go out?

The goal is for short updates to go out every day, please. The FS sends out press briefings on a regular basis throughout the duration of our stay in the woods, reporting how many tickets they've given out and for what, etc. It would be smart for us to do the same. Remember, the FS is now carrying tasers, this is serious. The call heard in the woods can be "Zap Up" or something now, since the FS is much more likely to taser folks with these "non-lethal" weapons rather than shoot them with guns. Really, why did they buy both the tasers and the training to use them, with such a low budget due to last year's fire season, if they don't intend to use them on us? http://www.docuticker.com/?p=18223 They're not going to use them on lions and bears; they have tranquilizer guns for that.

***************************

Aren't tasers non-lethal?

No. The "non-lethal" status of these weapons becomes a "less-lethal" status when someone with a pre-existing medical condition gets tased. Here are the types of tasers the FS has, the kind they specifically requested.
http://www.peer.org/docs/fs/07_4_12_taser_justification.pdf

Not the old stun gun type, but the kind that shoots wires up to 35 feet out, which have projectiles on the ends capable of piercing through one inch of clothing.

And agencies themselves are ever increasingly replacing the term "non-lethal" with the term "less-lethal" when referring to these lethal weapons, as noted in the New York Times, June 15, 2008. The article continued, "Also on Wednesday, Amnesty International said it had tracked more than 300 cases since 2001 in which people died after being shocked by a Taser."

******************************

But they say they're going to be nice this year.

I cannot even begin to count the times I've heard that before. Please, just look at the history of the FS's relations pre-, mid- and post-gathering. It's evident that they are notorious for saying one thing before the gathering, doing another thing during the gathering, and then raving about how well we cleaned up in the end.

********************************

Is this idea all talk? Who's FireFly?

A part-time mover and shaker. At the '06 Colorado Annual Gathering, hundreds of gatherers were ticketed, had to leave the Gathering to go to a makeshift court, and wait outside all day with no food or water (the spigot was shut off) until their names were called. This went on every day. I was able to help by establishing and implementing a system within the gathering of preparing and delivering 'food for court' on a daily basis, and our ticketed, satellite, off-site Family was fed. Dozens of folks plugged in to make it work, you know who you are, THANK YOU! And THANK YOU in advance to all who remember to carry on sharing food with our not inevitably ticketed, extended, off-site Family who hopefully won't have to spend any time away from Home at some kangaroo court.

Rainbow Familly of living Light invites all beings to gather peacfully
with
Love

Seed camp is getting under way this week, Preparing for the main
gathering to
run from Thursday the 21st through sunday the 24th.
Please be aware this is a healing gathering and that alcohol and hard drugs are discouraged!
The gathering will be up Mt. Tuam in a 90acre park.
about a 45min drive from Fulford turn left after the Fulford inn onto
Issabella pt Rd, then the first rd on the right, Musgrave rd. will be
followed over the mountain. Musgrave rd will turn to dirt then you will
need to stay to the right to stay on it. Heading up the mountain there is
one main junction in which you must stay to the left. Then heading down the
back or south side you will need to keep right at another junction, both
times it is basicaly staying with the flow of the rd.
After a good desent you will be looking for a small rd on the left
immediately
After a green rd sign on the right (Hope Hiil rd). This left, then
another left will bring you to a small clearing, the road or this clearing
being used for parking, (well see which).
Follow the Rainbow signs!
If you go straight on the rd off of musgave(by foot only) it goes down
to the ocean. Please be aware of very strong currents may develope
quickly.

The park boundry roughly follows the rd from the ocean and through the
clearings to the stream and the stream down to the ocean. Please be
respectfull of and "cabins in the woods" which will not be in the park.
Please Bring your camp gear, Organic food to share, Hugs, Musical
instruments, skills/Knoledge to share, lots of Love and Healing
vibrations/
intentions for the earth and your familly of light.

Please forward, invite a friend, set you intention for us to bring
healing
to the earth and ourselves

Has anybody else decided to live barefoot?

I’m used to a life on bare soles: I haven’t worn shoes since December 2000 (with a few exceptions!) and I don’t think I’ll EVER imprison my feet again! I’ve been walking barefoot since my schooldays, but not every day, not everywhere… It was a winter morning back in 2000, just after Christmas: I was ready to board my flight to India. My feet were already bare while I was waiting for the train which would take me to the airport. The air was a bit chilly, and I noticed a couple of people, staring at my feet, obviously unable to believe what they saw: A pair of bare feet, decorated with a leather-anklet and a shiny little toering… I didn’t know that I was about to leave Europe for good, returning only occasionally for short visits. But I was ready for the big adventure: Spending many month on the road, exploring almost every nook and corner of India on my bare soles – from Kanyakumari to Gangtok and from Gujarat to West Bengal… It was SO much fun! I didn’t even carry any shoes in my backpack, and soon, my soles were tough as leather! Finally, the unexpected happened: I managed to settle down in India! I’ve been able to live my life barefoot ever since… Has anybody else decided to live barefoot, to stop wearing shoes, never wearing them again?

Stranded in Berkeley

Hey everyone, sorry I just joined tribe today so my profile is lacking, but I also have a profile at www.myspace.com/starrdst81. Anyways, I sold everything and went to Burning Man determined to start a new way of life that was in tune with my beliefs and values. I travelled to San Francisco after the burn and realized that it was not a city where you could just "crash" by finding cool people. Anyways, that's all good. So I got an RV which seemed like a good deal, but it had been sitting for awhile and there have been several problems since then and now I'm stranded on King St. and Ashby in Berkeley and any day the city is going to tow me away. So my post is two fold. Does anyone know a good mechanic that could come to my RV? Also, does anyone own or know of someone who owns a patch of land - a parking space or piece of yard that's not being used, etc. . . where I could park my RV for a rental cost? I don't need any connections. I'm really desperate at this point and am hoping there are people in this area as helpful as they were at Burning Man. I'm trying to get involved in the wonderful things going on here but have a hard time doing that without a steady living situation. So if you also know of anyone with a room for rent or something like that, please let me know. And if you just want to hang out, that would be cool too!
Thanks!

3D Instant messenger

Greetings!
I'm PdxDruid. I want to invite you all to a really awesome 3D chat
messenger. I have alot of Pagan friends there & been drawing many
from other areas on the Net to there. I'm hoping to create a really
strong Pagan presence there. When you join through my link you will
automatically be added to my Buddy list. This will help you find other
Pagans here as almost every single person in my Buddy list is Pagan of one
flavor or another. Heres a run down of how to earn credits here to buy stuff.
When you join they start you off with a 1,000 credits (Credits is our virtual currency).
The main ways to earn credits is to invite folks. When someone first accepts
a invite from you, you earn 500 credits then another 500 credits when they have their
first chat. They give you credit when they hit their 5th chat and others too
but I haven't kept up on how many. LOL Anyway if they buy their name ($7.95)
you get 2,500 credits. NOTE: You don't need to buy your name if you don't want to.
If you don't then you just end up stuck with the word Guest in front of your name.
Alot of folks have guest in front of their name & been here since the beginning.
Also Guest have little ads on there homepage. No biggy. The benefits of buying
your name is it drops the Guest from name, drops the ads from your homepage.
Allows you to download the Developer program & become a
Developer and design & sell clothes & other stuff in the catalog and
a few other things I haven't really learned yet. But mainly unless you
want to be a Developer you don't need to buy your name unless you don't
like Guest in front of your name. One of my friends I invited husband
bought her the full adult access pass & I got 10,000 credits. Adult
Access allows you to buy adult mature stuff like nudity skins and stuff.
So unless you like doing rituals online Skyclad or (LOL) a real flirt
you don't need it. LOL You can buy credits but unless you are loaded
why bother? You can earn plenty just by inviting folks and its a great
way to make friends as well. Speaking of Rituals online. No one is
doing this yet here & one of my good friends is a Developer & I'm
learning to be a Developer. Me & her are working on creating ritual
scenes/themes so folks can do ritual online. Great for those who are
in secluded places or don't have other Pagans in their area to work
with and like to even if it is online, experience ritual with others.
I have a Stonehenge Theme that has a Ritual/council like lodge & hold
little workshop discussions within it. Its a great little lodge to do
Druidic 101 or Wicca 101 classes in also. I also have a Redwoods Theme
and I just did a cyber handfasting in it for 2 and that was kinda cool.
Their Avatars were all dressed up for it & mine wore its celtic robe
and deer antlers on his head (This avatar is temporarly down and I'm
using my PdxDruid one). LOL There are alot of cool Pagan themes
already but they are mainly Pagan social themes. Like the Wiccan
Retreat Cafe & the Goddess Cabin. 2 of my favorite. The first time I
chat with you its in the Cafe. The Cafe can seat like 12 people so its
kinda cool though its still in Beta and can usually only get 3 avatars
to appear in it though I did have up to 7 Avatars in there once. They
are busy working out the kinks though and many I have invited love it
enough they willing to deal with the little quirks. LOL Anyway when
you join and I'm on I spend my first chat with you teaching you how
to control your Avatar and to get to know you then set you loose to
have fun and explore. If I'm not online when you join just click Chat
now & someone will pop up and help you. If you get a newbie learn what
you can then say thank you and try Chat now again till you get someone
whose gotten good at it.
You can also click my homepage in your Buddy list & there you will
fine my buddy list and it will show you who is online (this is great
if you perfer to have a fellow Pagan help you rather than a random
person in the Chat now mode). Click their pict then it will take you
to their page. You can leave a message (If its a question make them
private so their page don't get flooded with questions) or click there
homepage pict & it will launch a chat with them. Let them know I
invited you & they will help you learn how to use your Avatar. Once
you learn to use your Avatar start inviting your Pagan Friends and
earn shopping credits & have fun. Hope to see you there! Below is the
link. http://www.imvu.com/catalog/web_registration.php?userId=1547889

go na Tiarna agus Bantiarn coill glas beannacht glas tu!<br>

Article and Facts about 2004 CA Gathering

One of the last factual findings just came in this morning, as I have been working to obtain more facts regarding the "tribal presence" this summer on 02 July 2004. What I'm referring to is when five (5) "carry-alls" (green and white forest service type work vehicles) drove up the trail from parking, past info to Free Medicine. Then the famous allegations came down that we were Gathering on their "Indian Burial Ground, and sh*ting in gravesites."

After several months of investigation now, slowly gathering facts, including a couple visits out to Modoc County I personally, and perhaps some others as well, have been finding a very slanted political story with many things made up. The latest facts that we were waiting on came into today saying those 5 vehicles were NOT USDA-FS owned as of July 2004. Rather they were OLD previously owned Forest Service vehicles that had been bought at auction with BIA funds, most likely by Jessica Jim (the woman that was most vocal). According to a number of people in the area, she is very disliked by many people in the region, especially other members of the tribe and other bands. A number of people that were talked with in the community felt she was not to be trusted, and characterized her as putting her own family or clan above the rest of tribe and other bands. [NOTE: in her defense, a few people said though that while they disapproved of her methods, -if not down right alienating, a few defended her anger as one of an activist for Native remembrance.]

Additionally, what started out after the Gathering as an attempt from some of us at the coast to assist in seeing if the land could be put back into Indigenous hands, started revealing some interesting facts - as well as a number of statements that day that rather had NO facts behind them.

I and at least one other person tried researching a number of claims made that day, and went to such places as the Modoc County Library (affiliated with the school district), the county Historical Museum, and talked with an anthropologist. They never heard of such things as were stated that day and wondered what was the source. So then I went down to Likely and talked with members of the Hamawi band, who are the actual "keepers of the land" for that area. Originally there were two or three separate tribes that came to be known by the white man's name "Pit River Tribe." I was not the only one that had been to Likely to talk. It was a known fact in planning the 2004 California (National) Rainbow Gathering that scouts HAD talked with local indigenous people, and that ALL interested parties WERE notified at one point or another.

Several weeks ago, when I finally wound up going to Likely and interviewing some people I had been given names to talk with, things started coming together. They too were surprised to hear of these stories that were told on the 2nd of July. They had lived there all of their life as had their parents and NEVER heard of such things. They also said they had spoken with scouts in planning the Gathering and had no problem with it, since "it fit in with the natural history of that area." Additionally **no one from the Hamawi Band, or the local Likely Rancheria was invited that day.**(If they had even known about the session, they would like to have been there.) No one ever lived up there as a village because, just as today, it gets way too cold during the winter, and the site is snowed in. Why do that when there is plenty of warmer places to live down below. Even the animals that do not hibernate tend to come down the mountain as Fall sets in. The history of "Bear Camp Flat", the area where the Gathering was held, was just that "A Summer Gathering Area"; - a place where inter-tribal gathering would happen for the purposes of trading and get-together. In the local region obsidian was very abundant and the local people were very skilled at making arrowheads. People from the coast would come with shells and coastal items to trade. From the plains to the East the Shoshone and Piute people would bring hides from the plains as well as grasses and other such items of the northern high desert. Bear Camp and Camp One (the 1984 Gathering site, five miles away) were and always have been used as hunting camp base sites. IF indeed there were skeletal remains that were found there, there WERE NOT from a formal burial ground as such, but could have been from animals as well as hunting accidents. While not documented at this particular site, there may have been violent disputes with settlers in the days leading up to the Modoc Wars (as there were across the region). However, again, this was NOT some formal ceremonial burial ground. As archeological efforts go on slowly in the region, eventually we may know more.

Additionally, when bringing up the infamous icon rock, overlooking the meadow, which that day was referred to as "Birthing Rock," again - no one locally (that we ran into) had ever heard of it called by that name. The main concern was that, geologically, if was a unique landmark, and to have people climbing all over it would cause quick erosion that nature would take years to wear down. In this sense it was disrespectful not to have that consciousness of respect for what nature had provided. Whether the name had no significance and was just entirely made up is possible, but not entirely clear, since for the medicine people, it is one of a number of sites in that region where springs originate from and hence many flower and herbs grow.

So in conclusion, what can be said, and possibly learned for the future?
" Were we "wrong" to have had the Gathering there? The facts indicate NO, not at all, we were guided to a site that historically welcomed Gathering there.
" Were mistakes done in scouting and planning for the 2004 Gathering? No, not deliberately or negligently. At least it can be said that the best efforts were made. BUT could there be a few things done differently and "BETTER"? The answer does appear to be yes. In the future, in addition to having guidelines to follow and consider (which our scouting folks did have) more time has to be spent by the Family in advance. This has always been difficult due to knowing when and where snow would clear, leaving flowing springs and such. However, notice MUST be sent out to all interested parties, and possibly by "certified mail" (to acknowledge receipt) from significant players or "stakeholders", such as local tribal leaders. Then there needs to be "Scoping Sessions" held at some sort of community meeting hall, such as a grange or fire hall, library conference room, etc. At such meetings, by public notice, there needs to be roundtable discussion, and reviewing impacts. These impacts need not be negative, but if anything arises that could pose a problem, mitigation needs to be addressed. Additionally this is a chance to have local merchants and business people present to discuss advance purchasing needs and recommendations from wholesalers and distributors. It is also a chance at working with local chambers or business groups to discuss strategies for security. and how the family has helped in that regard in the past.
" Could the Gathering be more conscious and mindful? Yes, While there are always people in the Family that daily walk a "path of consciousness" ("Way of Life"), the Gathering is huge and diverse, and for many it is their first Gathering (even more so in recent years), and consciousness raising is ALWAYS an important part of Gathering. Also for all the "hands-on" experience of hard physical work that goes on before, during and after a Gathering, it has also been noticed a number of times to "start with a prayer of Thanksgiving and asking Vision" as well as balancing "sister-energy with brother-energy" before having a circle, or setting up sites. ...and, as it keeps coming up "learn how to improve trusting our intuitions." (How we may each and all gain more clarity).

And one final thought in personal reflection, is that one more reason we may have been lead there, is for more peace and healing, and coming together amongst the local tribes of that area. "Politics begins at home." ... so can peace and healing.

Any further comments, conclusions, observations, etc. are welcomed in reply.

Bad News!

Bad news. We all went into Santa Barbara for the Whale Festival & returned to find the whole Rogue Camp gone. One of the sisters went to the police cause she lost some valuable stuff. They denied knowing anything about it but told her it was her own fault for being illegally camp in the river bed. We know it was the police cause they took everything. I mean everything. Not even our trash bag was there. There was no sign other than the tent prints on the ground & the fire pit was still there though the rocks had been cleared & the mud oven was also broken down. We had run a drunk out earlier in the day before leaving & believe he went & told the cops we were there. There were 5 tents (mine included), 2 60' x 60' tarps over kitchen & supply tent & one old fashion Army MASH tent plus all the kitchen gear, food etc... plus 2 bike, a small wagon with fat tires plus everyones camping gear, backpacks & personals all gone. No way the drunk could carry it. Guess if you wear a badge its alright to steal. Anyway, the Rogue camp is on hold till after the National. We will be scouting a new site somewhere in Northern Santa barbara County or San Luis Obispo County. Most of the crew has moved back to either Santa Barbara or S.L.O. A few of us have moved (I myself returned) up to Figueroa Mountain & will help travelors through the areas. So it is still my vision to see Rogue camps to pop up all over the country & you ain't heard the last of this one. So check back often. We are also looking into the possibility of buying land in the area (actually not I as I'll be moving to Oregon). Anyway thats the update.

I'm landlocked in Missouri right now, but I'm planning a trip out to the left coast for the summer. I was hoping you guys might be able to give me some info on the Rogue camp, it seems like it could be a pretty good resting place while I'm out on the road this summer. If anybody can help drop me a line at JackM420@msn.com. I would greatly appreciate it, and I hope to see you all this summer.

Howdy from sunny CA. Just thought I'd intro myself.

I'm a 51yo father of a 24yo woman and 22yo man. My daughter lives and works near Berkeley and my son bounces between there and his mother's place near Yosemite.

As for myself, my current situation allowed me to escape the SF Bay Area and make my way to the Sierra foothills. My income has been zero for four years as of last Feb, but somehow I've been able to get by good looks(ha), sex appeal(ha-ha), and bartering work for food and shelter.
Right now I'm living on a small ranch where I tend to horses, sheep, and chickens. Life is good for me here, but I feel a bit isolated at times since I'm here 24/7. I miss my phamily ever since I left them back in Utah.

My first gathering was in Utah last year and as I made my way into the meadow my heart knew I had found home. Too many things happened over the next five days to recount here and not all of it was great. On my way to the gathering I discovered that I was sick. Even though my insides were twisted the first for three days, I still made the most of it and the last two are a blur. Leaving the mountain was very emotional for me and still brings a tear as I think about my phamily and the feelings that I had there.
As my friend and I drove back to CA, I could feel the magic slowly drain away, but the loveglow has stayed with me. The feeling reminds me of the 60's when every day felt that way(for a short time, that is).

So, now I have to decide where to go and what to do with myself. I'm living in a garden spot right now and feel very safe here. But I miss being home. That's my reason for coming to tribes.net - because I have no other outlet in which to search. I've made it clear to my host that I will be at the next National, so that's something to look forward to. I have no plans on how to get there, but I know that I will.

Getting back to introducing myself. I'm; a single and single minded; a former techie; a future dinner roll maker (Lovin' Ovens); barefoot; naked when I can; shy (mostly because I have hearing problems); an earthling.
Okay, so I'm not very good at expressing myself about me. But I'm very open and willing to answer any reasonable question.

Thanx for reading this far - peace, JV

I figure it's worth a try anyways.... My name is Sharon aka Sprout. I've been in Alaska for over six years now, but traveled all over the west coast prior to moving here. I desperately miss my old friends and would love to get in touch with them. Names that come to mind....Derek (awesome guitar player, and should be famous by now. i believe his last name is Nieto. We both came from Thousand Oaks, California.); Ryan (used to travel ALL OVER with our late friend T.J. I KNOW someone out there has heard of them.); Corrina ( lives in Arcata, has a son named Thyme); anyways....getting back in touch with ANYONE from my past would be the most awesome thing that could ever happen to me since I'm so secluded from everything up here. Sorry for such the loooooong post, but hell...it's worth a try.

Rainbow Phamily Rogue Camp & Kitchen forming in the Santa Ynez Valley of Santa Barbara County in California. This is a Rogue camp & kitchen that is forming. I work & live & camp here (I live in my tent) & decided why not invite others & get a Rainbow Phamily camp & kitchen going here for Brothers & Sisters on the road. I’m always picking up hitchhikers here in Buellton who come off the 101 freeway & showing them where to camp. So anyway, I’m looking for any Brothers or Sisters on the road who like to become a part of this. I know of 2 other Rainbow Phamily Rogue Camps. 1 outside of Eugene,OR & 1 outside of Boulder, CO. If you like to get involve, you can contact me at RainBowPhamilyCamp@yahoo.com. You can also reach me on MSN Messenger as RainBowPhamilyRogueCamp. Also you can join the RainBow Phamily Rogue camp Tribe at http://RainBowPhamilRogueCamp.tribe.net. There is a great little Farmer’s Market every Wednesday & some Organic Farms in the area if you is looking for work. We are also in need of tarps, tents, blankets, sleeping bags & other camping gear. Also in need of Rainbow kitchen gear. Any help would be appreciated. You will be helping your Phamily.

Siochain (Peace)
Gypsy

P.S.
Be sure to email me first as I am the only one here right now. This Camp is still at the Seed camp level. So if you come in to Buellton, beware that you can camp with me but that there is no Kitchen yet. But don’t let that stop you. Come help me build it so it will be here for others. Bring tarps, ropes. A shovel & Axe would help too. I won’t post directions to the camp for obvious reason. Don’t want the men in blue showing up right?
